Russell Smith

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is also an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, and Nigel.

    • Her. See how depersonalizing homelessness is? No, she was giving as good as they were. They were worried she might try to start a fire with her lighter. She kept telling them, “I’ve done nothing wrong!” Over and over again, like a chant, a talisman for protection from the authorities.

  1. Mimi

Poor woman. You are totally helpless, hopeless when you’e homeless. It’s one of my greatest fears. I used to watch the homeless in D.C. when I was at the Corcoran. It really hit me that any one of us could end up on the streets if we don’t have people who will be there for us. Thank God for family!
