It was a particularly harsh winter in the capital. Firewood was a premium, but when bread became scarce, riots broke out in the poorer parts of the city. They soon spread into other districts. The old King and his councilors were at a loss about what to do.
“Send a detachment to the house of the Duchess du Linge,” said General Broadbelt to the Captain of the Guard.
“Does this come from the King or the Duchess?” Asked the Captain incredulously.
“What’s the difference?” Asked the General in return.
“It’s a subtle nuance, but there is a difference.”
I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, Nigel, Pirouette and GarGar.
