This has been a disappointing summer in terms of butterflies. I captured this elusive monarch earlier in the month as it was departing these blossoms.
I love this shade of yellow.
I’ve been shying away from macros, but I couldn’t resist this time…
…and if I post a macro, then I must also post a black-and-white to accompany it.

Orphaned at an early age, the people took the Princess Pirouette under their wing. Whether rich or poor, noble or commoner, the people embraced the frail, little girl as their own. Every public appearance swiftly became a public spectacle with gathering crowds of people shouting for her attention. “Princess! Princess! Over here! Over here!” Their cries were incessant. As an adult, Queen Pirouette returned the love through various charitable programs: a home for unwed mothers, shelters for the homeless, kitchens for the hungry.
