Becky’s Bright Squares : April 16, 2021

This humble dandelion is my offering for Becky B’s April Bright Squares Challenge.

Hail, man-o’-war’s men, safeguards of your nation,
Here is an end, at last, of all privation;
You’ve got your pay–spare all you can afford
To welcome Little Buttercup on board

I’m called Little Buttercup, dear Little Buttercup,
Though I could never tell why.
But still I’m called Buttercup, Poor Little Buttercup,
Sweet Little Buttercup, I!

I’ve snuff and tobaccy, and excellent jacky,
I’ve scissors, and watches, and knives;
I’ve ribbons and laces to set off the faces
Of pretty young sweethearts and wives

I’ve treacle and toffee, I’ve tea and I’ve coffee,
Soft tommy and succulent chops;
I’ve chickens and conies, and pretty polonies,
And excellent peppermint drops.

Then buy of your buttercup, Dear Little Buttercup,
Sailors should never be shy;
So buy of your Buttercup, Poor Little Buttercup,
Come, of your Buttercup buy. — H.M.S. Pinafore, Gilbert & Sullivan

April Bright Squares #15

I like the way the morning sun lights up the white in Garçon’s fur. This is my contribution to Becky B’s April Bright Squares Challenge.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t include this tulip.

April Bright Squares

In keeping with the theme of lights or lamps for today’s April Bright Squares photo challenge, hosted by Becky B of Life of B.

I know that the skies were a bit cloudy on the day I photographed this giant electrical cord and outlet; however, in keeping with the spirit of Becky’s giant lamp, I’m posting it. This photo was taken on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave earlier in the current century. I did a bit of cropping and resizing to make sure that it was a perfect square. I estimate that this photo was taken in 2009, before I started my blog, Beautiful Photographs.

Becky’s Bright Square Challenge – April 8

This is my entry for Becky B of Life of B’s April Bright Square Challenge. According to my photo editor, this image is equal in length and width. So why does it look (to me) as if it’s taller than wider?
