Ragtag Daily Prompt: Red & Yellow

Ragtag Daily Prompt

“Why don’t we open the door and see who it is?” Offered Lady Abigail with a shrug of the shoulders.

“Very well,” sighed Queen Pirouette who with a hand flourish indicated to Lady Eleanor to open the carriage door.

All three women started from their seats when they saw the figure below them. It was a man dressed like your average journeyman worker. He wore trousers with alternating muted hues of red and yellow vertical stripes. His shirt, once white, was now yellowed with age, adorned with several patches of varying size, shape and color, along with what appeared to be numerous food stains. On his back he wore a big, black cape with a hood that was pulled way down to his eyebrows. His mouth was likewise covered with a bright red scarf.

The man bowed like a courtier, deeply with one arm akimbo.

Butterfly: September 2, 2022

This is an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. The poor thing has definitely been through some trauma, but it can still fly. I thought it was being surprisingly friendly, willing to pose for me with my intrusive iPhone 11. Now I realize that it’s probably just a bit worn out. It’s probably a bit more difficult for it to get about as compared to one of his own with wings that are completely intact. By this time of year, I start to see many butterflies with wings that have seen better days. It was small for an adult, but perhaps that’s to be expected. It may not be able to harvest as much nectar as a healthy Eastern Tiger.

Butterfly: Yellow Swallowtail, August 17, 2022

So far this summer, I’ve seen quite a few of these yellow swallowtails. I saw this one just a couple of hours ago. I took this picture with my iPhone 11. I’m just now starting to see the occasional monarch. I’m seeing skippers everywhere.

City Sonnet’s Colors & Letters Challenge: May 23, 2021: Primrose Yellow

I don’t have any yellow primroses, but I thought these wildflowers were quite pretty.
These mangos vary in shades of yellow.
You can always count on the daisy family to give you just about any color under the sun!
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include this superstar in the challenge!
