Renowned for their sagacity, Queen Pirouette and King GarGar were often called upon to rule on cases that were considered tricky or obtuse. Her Majesty in particular was well-versed in the laws of the land. Once she was presented with a case over an inheritance between squabbling family members. She called the litigants to come to the throne room of the palace. There she told them that if they did not come to an understanding right then and there, she would appropriate all the properties in question for herself. They quickly decided to divide the money evenly and to distribute lands in a manner that was acceptable to all.
One of the litigants was heard to exclaim, “Thank God we have a queen with so much wisdom!”
“And greed,” rejoined King GarGar to himself.
