Ragtag Daily Prompt: Radical

The day had come for the old King to open parliament. When he entered the Parliament House, all the Lords and Commons rose from their seats. Ahead of him walked le duc du Bol carrying the sword of state on a red velvet pillow. His Majesty held his scepter in both hands in order to prevent them from shaking. In radical contravention of all precedents and protocols, GarGar le comte des Deux Chats walked behind him, carrying the orb of state on another red velvet pillow. Kettle drums beat a stately rhythm and trumpets played a regal flourish. As the old King placed his foot on the first step that led to his throne, the music ceased. The entire spectacle was designed to stir the blood and elicit feelings of national pride.
