Ragtag Daily Prompt: Vista

Adriana Toutsaint paused to look at the view. From the hilltop, she could see the entire river valley where the capital sat. Her first sight of the great city very nearly took her breath away. When she heard that her long lost mother was at Court, she couldn’t wait to see her. Vistas of untold wealth and prosperity seemed to open up to her and she could feel the gravitational pull of hope. While the city walls were grey, the tall buildings appeared to be uniformly white. They glittered like jewels before her.

“Come along, Nelly!” Said Adriana to her horse, “Destiny awaits!”

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, Nigel, Pirouette and GarGar.
