I’m a day late posting for Hammad’s Weekend Sky Challenge, but I had to post this!
One thing I really like about the above photo is the reflected lights. To me they look like different phases of the moon. The window is on display at Heritage Baptist Church, Annapolis, MD. I love the outer pieces of glass that are stained to look like folds of cloth. I believe the scene portrayed is the baptism of Christ. On the other hand, perhaps it is Christ’s Ascension into Heaven?
Nativity Pageant – Heritage Baptist Church
Everybody was welcoming and friendly- a great beginning for Christmastime! God bless all worshipers at Heritage Baptist Church.
We appeared to be one short of three wise men. The shepherds were all smiles! All of the painted backgrounds contained instructive narrative behind little doors that the kids could open and read. Can you see the two little doors on the photo at lower right (above)?
Jesus, Mary and Holy Saint Joseph… and billy goat.
For the first time in many years, I find myself really caught up in the spirit of Christmas. The good people at Heritage Baptist Church are a big reason for this spiritual change. Here are some more photographs from their Nativity pageant. Merry Christmas everybody!
Everybody was so friendly and welcoming. There were lots of stations where parishioners told different parts of the story of Christmas. Here we learn why our Savior was called Jesus of Nazareth, and how Bethlehem fits into the narrative.
I’m guessing that this little fella from the petting zoo may have a bit of trouble seeing where he’s going.
Some parishioners were shepherds. Some were angels. All of the children were simply adorable!
Stay turned to this blog for more posts about the Nativity Pageant at Heritage Baptist Church on Forest Drive in Annapolis, Maryland. What a warm and welcoming group of people did I meet tonight! The animals in the petting zoo were cute. The children who participated as everything from shepherds to angels were adorable. Everybody was in the Christmas spirit, and I was no exception. I must have wished people a “Merry Christmas!” a hundred times, if once. I also sprinkled all and sundry with “God bless you!” so full of a benevolent spirit was I.
Merry Christmas to all!
This week’s entry for the Monday Windows Challenge comes from Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis, Maryland. They’ve preserved a window that comes from their previous location, downtown Annapolis. Now they are on Forest Drive- just a few miles away. Heritage Baptist Church is home to numerous fine examples of contemporary stained glass as well as the traditional stained glass window that was from their downtown location. It has its own room, separate from the sanctuary.
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:23.
Look upon us, O God, Creator and ruler of all things, and, that we may feel the working of your mercy, grant that we may serve you With all our heart. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
