In flight they are so majestic; however, when their feet hit the ground, they look like something that would be waiting for you at the gates of Hell. They are truly worthy of a Brueghel.

There was some police activity on the road that runs parallel to the northern side of our property. There is a school for trouble teenagers behind our house. On this day, there had been a particularly brutal fight between students and one student deployed pepper spray on another. Times have certainly changed.
Here we have a picturesque stretch of country road that has survived the housing boom in Annapolis.
At ground level, they’re quite hideous, but when they take flight, they are simply majestic. I speak of the buzzard. More than once, I’ve spoken of my admiration for the lowly buzzards, also known as a vulture. Yes, I am from the school that considers the terms synonymous. This is my contribution to Jez Braithwaite’s Fan of… challenge #55.
