Jez’s Fan of… Challenge #44, December 2, 2019

Stained glass 1I’m a big fan of my home state, Maryland. If it only had the Chesapeake Bay to its credit, that alone would make it a great place, but there is so much more. Ducks 1

Because of the Chesapeake Bay, and its massive watershed, Maryland hosts many species of migratory birds. Even more amazing were the monarch butterflies, who passed through Maryland on their way to Mexico. In the Fall there would be so many that they would cover entire trees. Perhaps they’ve chosen more remote locations for rest areas. I don’t know.

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, Nigel, Pirouette and GarGar.
