I stumbled across this amazing lichen a few days ago. I’ve been saving it for Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge. I just love how one side of it looks so much like the skin on a green apple.

Queen Pirouette stood at the foot of GarGar’s bed. Through eyes brimming with tears of joy, she gazed upon her lover as he slept. It was as if she were trying to memorize every feature of his face and body. It would take some time for him to replenish his mind and body, but she would be there, by his side, through it all. The stories he had told the commissioners of his exploits, those that he could remember, had made her blood run cold.
Locked behind a wall of sleep, le comte des Deux Chats had no idea that the Queen was regarding him with such love and devotion. He snorted and rolled over. Suppressing a laugh, she lifted his bedcovers and gave his big toe a little squeeze.
