After much contemplation, prayer and meditation, I’ve decided to take a new approach to my devotional posts. In the past, I always made sure to post one devotion everyday, precisely at noon (EST). The rigidity of this scheduling began to cause me more than a little anxiety. How can one be close to their spirituality in such a state? Are not a state of anxiety and a state of grace diametrically opposed? With that in mind, I’ve decided to post devotional material only when the spirit moves me. (Pun intended.)
Also future images included with my devotional posts no longer need to be religious in nature. I think that was apparent in my last Devotion which quoted the Gospels according to Matthew and Luke. This was when Jesus drove demons out of the men and into the pigs. The pigs subsequently drowned themselves. Instead of an explicitly religious image, I included a photograph of a friend’s garden sculpture- a cute cast iron pig whose paint had fairly chipped off.
With all this in mind, I now present a devotion for September 7, 2019:But Jesus said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: For such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 19:14.
