Ragtag Daily Prompt: Brass

The people of Catapolis were near panic. The enemy had surrounded the city. While the walls were holding strong, the gates could give way at any minute. To make matters worse, the old king had taken to his sick bed, refusing all sustenance or medicines, and disdaining to make any decisions whatsoever during this crisis. In the power vacuum, thus created, Princess Pirouette (the elder) took control of the situation from within the city.

“GarGar! GarGar!” The people shouted. “Save us!” That was all the encouragement le comte des deux chats needed to raise a relief force and break the siege of Catapolis. The people danced in the streets, and threw garlands at his feet as he entered the city in his shiny armor made of brass.

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, Nigel, Pirouette and GarGar.
