Sunday Stills: Favorite Places

Grand Canyon_1999_5aAny discussion of favorite places for me must begin with the Grand Canyon. While I could pepper this post with lots of amazing facts and figures about the Canyon, just look at it. There are no words to do it justice.Haleakala 1Then there is Haleakala on the island of Maui. You are forgiven if you thought these pictures (above and below) were from a NASA mission on another planet.Haleakala 2Closer to home, we have the glorious Chesapeake Bay. I’m afraid my skills as a photographer can’t do it justice, but I submit below in a feeble attempt to participate in the Sunday Stills challenge: Favorite Places. Weems Creek (below) is one of those spots that I visit and revisit. It’s a place where I can recharge spiritually. It’s home to a wide variety of flora and fauna.WWE 7

“Hear ye! Hear ye!” The village crier shouted, ringing his hand bell with all due vigor. “Hear ye! Hear ye!”

Those who lived nearest the village square and the large well were the first out of their homes to hear the news. The crier, sporting his official uniform with a green pointy cap with a black feather in it, red tunic with a green sash and a black belt, complemented by a black belt cinched tightly at the waist, bell in one hand and a crumpled parchment in the other.

“How now!” Said the smithy. “What goes?”

Hold on, good sir,” answered the crier, “Let’s allow more to gather before I read the proclamation from Their Majesty’s.” Upon hearing those words, the smithy removed his brown, dusty cap.
