Ragtag Daily Prompt: Unexpected
GarGar, le comte des Deux Chats was sipping his morning tea when his butler brought him an envelope. “This just came from the palace, sir,” said Monsieur le majordome in his driest tone. GarGar took the envelope with trembling fingers. The palace! What could it be? He asked himself.
To his astonishment, the envelope was sealed with the crest of Princess Pirouette herself. Oh, happy day! Taking his letter opener, he slid the edge under the seal so as not to damage it. This would no doubt be a keepsake for a lifetime. Pulling out the gilt-edged card within, he read: His excellency, GarGar, le comte des Deux Chats is hereby invited to afternoon tea with Her Most Royal Highness Princess Pirouette… Looking closely he realized that the proposal was for today! What an unexpected surprise!
GarGar threw off his morning jacket and called for his butler to draw him a bath. Le comte had not felt this excited since his last campaign when he led the charge against enemy lines.
