IdahoBlueBird50 AOTD: October 24, 2019

This peacock butterfly is my contribution to the cause of IdahoBlueBird50’s AOTD challenge; that is, Animal of the Day. As I’ve been in the habit of posting a butterfly photograph every morning at nine o’clock for the past few month, I think that I’d be remiss if I did not include a photo or two of these magnificent members of Family Lepidoptera.

Butterfly, October 24, 2019

Butterfly 1aButterfly 1bPlease accept my apologies for the fuzziness of the subject of these photographs. As you can see from the width of the blades of grass, this was a very tiny butterfly. Its wingspan was about that of the fingernail of my pinky. I estimate that these pictures blow up the size of the little one by about x40. Taken September 26, 2019 in a field near Bywater Drive, Annapolis Maryland.

A bird lost its course. A flower cried.

The wind grew still, and then it sighed.

The children grew old with eyes opened wide.
