In this image, I’ve taken the romantic vision of the Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer country boy and juxtaposed it with the ornamental garden flowers. The image of the boy is out of focus, as are all forms of nostalgia. The reality, in focus, is the sterile image of plant life that does not bear fruit- a symbol of the sterility of suburban life.
This collage is from homecoming day at the Naval Academy. One of the joys and hallmarks of small town life is the parade. Here we see a marching band going down the streets of Annapolis. This town is suffering from growing pains, as encroaching over-development takes its toll on its homey, small town character.
In the country, there’s lots of room to stack your wood. These were my contributions to LPM Photo Adventures – Rural Life challenge. I hope it measures up to other submissions! Below is the final entry. Baa! Baa! Black sheep have you any wool?
These are lovely images for this month’s theme. The homecoming parade brought me joy and memories of a different time and your artistic interpretation of what you have done with the country boy juxtaposition is very thought provoking.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed my meager contribution. Happy New Year to you! 🙂
