GarGar and Pirouette. King and Queen. Husband and wife. Hand in hand. Together, underneath a hostile sky that threatened rain, they proceeded up the hillside to their old meeting place in the abandoned abbey. That night, they’d arranged to meet in the secret passageway that connected their two bedchambers. From there, they followed another passageway that led underneath the mote and the fortifications to the wooded land just south of the royal palace.
“The stars are beautiful tonight, my love,” said Queen Pirouette.
“Not half as beautiful as you, my Queen, replied King GarGar.
