Dragonfly, August 25, 2020

This morning I went to visit an old stomping ground from last summer. In the past it had been a great location for photographing butterflies. In that respect, I was not surprised to be disappointed. On the other hand, a friendly dragonfly, as has been so often the case this summer, agreed to pose for a couple dozen exposures. He was so well camouflaged that even though the shots are clear and crisp, one is still obliged to squint in order to get a good look at my anisopteran friends.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: All About Old Buildings

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge (CFFC) All About Buildings: Old Buildings, Barns, Sheds, Houses

The house I live in is almost one hundred years old, so I think it qualifies for inclusion in this challenge.

From this side of the house, you can see the heating oil tank. It’s more than half full, in case you’re curious.
Do you mind holding the ladder for me while I proceed to break my neck?
Thank goodness for the porch. Where else would we stick the junk that doesn’t fit in the basement?

Ragtag Daily Prompt: Cycle

King GarGar and Queen Pirouette each rode a white charger at the head of the column that wound its way through the streets of Catapolis. After hearing mass at the Great Cathedral, the assembly of newly elected Commons followed their sovereigns on foot to the Parliament House. There they would begin debates on everything from taxes to treaties. This election cycle had been a particularly nasty one with the Tories accusing the Whigs of high crimes and misdemeanors, including everything from accepting bribes to selling secrets to the enemy.

Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge

Black-eyed Susan, the state flower of Maryland
This has been a disappointing summer in terms of butterflies. I captured this elusive monarch earlier in the month as it was departing these blossoms.
I love this shade of yellow.
I’ve been shying away from macros, but I couldn’t resist this time…
…and if I post a macro, then I must also post a black-and-white to accompany it.
