The fleshy petals of this orchid look almost like icing or marzipan to me. Last week, or perhaps the week before, I posted a number of orchids. This one is from that period. It somehow fell through the cracks, but here it is as a lovely surprise for Cee’s Flower of the Day challenge!
Now if I were a greedy person, I’d save these two for another day, but that’s not me. Orchids really are amazing. I’ve never had luck with them. Being the companion of so many cats makes keeping plants and flowers in the house a losing proposition. The price of love!
Interesting – I’ve never seen green orchids before! I have had two orchid plants in my house. The first one, when all the flowers died and fell off, and the plant was just sticks, (I don’t remember if there were leaves), I thought it had died so I threw it away. I was told not to do that! I now have another orchid plant and keep on my kitchen window sill. My cat never goes up there. The flowers have bloomed twice and I didn’t flinch when all the flowers were gone. I kept feeding it an ice cube every other day. That’s all the water it requires. I’ve been rewarded this time, with eight flowers!
Very pretty – and I like that one purple spot on the petal. 🙂
