Attention: Yet Another Theme!

Selfie Intellectual

Yet again circumstances have forced me to change the theme for Beautiful Photographs. The last theme, Monet was not functioning properly. From the homepage, it was only showing previews for a handful of posts. For the most part, all that was being displayed was a grey box with the title of the post in the center. Not very helpful. Not very attractive. To make matters worse, when I tried to change to another “premium” theme, the system kept trying to prompt me to upgrade to a business plan. As I already have a premium plan, such an upgrade should be unnecessary.

Luckily, WordPress does offer a customer support chat. I guess that because of the great distance between Maryland and WordPress HQ, there was a bit of delay between questions and responses. Despite this one drawback, the folks on the other end were able to install my new theme (Photoblog) without my having to lift a finger. Nice. I like this newest theme very much. Defaults include a search box, gallery and a navigational calendar.

Am I the only blogger experiencing difficulties with themes and functionality?

A New Look!

Since its inception in 2010, Beautiful Photographs has had the same layout. Such conservatism is out of character for the publisher of this site. In the spirit of innovation, we’ve decided to give the WordPress theme a try. It is called Monet and is identified as a theme expressly devoted to photography. Part of my inspiration for this decision is based on a visit to the Phillips Collection on Dupont Circle, Washington DC in 1999. There I saw an exhibit of collected works by the Expressionist painter Claude Monet. It was a seminal moment in my career as an artist. Please let me know what you think. All feedback, positive or otherwise, will be greatly appreciated. Happy blogging, all! RussellButterfly Forever!

Something of a Milestone

I’m not exactly sure why, but WordPress sent me this notification today. I suppose one number is as important as any other. This is a big THANK YOU to all who have been and continue to be supporters of my work. Learning from one another, I believe we have become an amazing network of excellent photographers. I’d like to extend special thanks to the following:

I am posting every day in 2011!

Dear Friends, As you may have already noticed, I made a commitment to post every day this year (2011). It is part of a WordPress competition to encourage people to blog more. Thus it is called postaday2011. I’ve subscribed to the Daily Post, which is a resource that I am sure will provide ideas and inspiration for this journey. I hope to network with other WordPress users for advice and criticism.

For those of you who already enjoy Beautiful Photographs, I hope that you will encourage me with comments, stars and inspiration!
