While these flowers seemed to have completed the process of fading, I still think they are rather pretty, so I submit them for today’s photo challenge for November. Thank you, City Sonnet for this opportunity! I’ll do my best to keep up.

On October 29, I took dozens of photographs of the squirrels in my backyard. At least half of them look like the ones above. Squirrels love to eat nuts and seeds. I’ve taken to leaving them a handful of peanuts, raw or roasted, unsalted and still in the shell, a few times a day. I also leave sunflower seeds so that the birds can join in the fun. I’ve noticed blue jays eating the peanuts. Good for them. As the squirrels don’t mind helping themselves to the bird seed, turn about is fair play!

Turkey buzzards, October 10, 2019. Another photograph from my chance encounter on October 10, 2019 in Arnold, Maryland. This morning, as I was driving down the road, I saw a large bird-of-prey with a tiny morsel in its talons. It was flying rather low, but I was unable to identify its prey. It brought to mind a line from an old movie called, “The Night of the Hunter,” starring Lillian Gish and Robert Mitchum. Lillian Gish’s character is standing on the front porch and she sees a night owl capture a bunny rabbit. In response, she says, “The world is hard on little things.”

When the Royal Messenger arrived, GarGar, le comte des deux chats was enjoying a little badminton with his valet. Annoyed by the interruption, he asked the messenger, “What does Her Majesty want with me? Have you brought news about that cushy appointment that I’ve been seeking?”
“No, Sir,” he replied. “I bring a private message from Princess Pirouette.”
Lobbing a shuttlecock at the poor fellow, GarGar shouted, “Don’t just stand there! Tell me everything!”

Un autre folie à deux. L’amour est un exemple de ce phénomène psychologique. Oui? N’est-ce pas?
