Queen Pirouette peered closely at the letter in her hand. It was a letter of recommendation for Lady Carelip, who stood before the Queen looking (and feeling) most uncomfortable. Her Majesty read part of the letter aloud, “‘Lady Carelip is a dependable, experienced, hard-working nanny.'” She cleared her throat, then spoke again, “Your former employer is quite laudatory, Lady Carelip. I hope that I can expect the same level of commitment that you gave the children under your previous care.”
“Yes, of course, Your Majesty!” Lady Carelip was a tinge on the excitable side and sweat had begun to form on her forehead.
“You understand that after the twins turned five, we let our old nanny go. The position has been unoccupied for these last few years.”
