When Queen Pirouette got married, she was still a princess. The same was true of her daughter, Princess Pirouette the Younger. There the similarities ended. While the Queen’s marriage had been celebrated by the entire nation, the Princess’ was observed by an elite few. For her wedding day, the Queen had worn diamonds, emeralds, rubies and pearls. Her white wedding gown had hundreds of pearls sewn into the fabric. On her head she wore a tiara that could blind observers on a sunny day. In contrast, the Princess wore a yellow gown with a delicate white muslin veil. Around her neck, she wore a single strand of pearls, and her hands were adorned with nothing save her engagement ring, a large, tear-shaped diamond, set in a bed of sapphires.

These are macros of carnations, pink and red. To me they look like they could be found in the brain pan of a reptile or canyons on alien planets. Submitted to Cee’s Flower of the Day challenge. They are my response to Cee’s contribution for today’s FOTD: poinsettias.
