Song Lyric Sunday: Them There Eyes

Caitlyn 1 eyes

While New Epic Author left the field fairly wide open for this week’s prompt, I decided to focus on eyes. There are a myriad of songs out there about eyes. I decided to share the upbeat jazz number, “Them There Eyes,” which has been covered by all the greats; and of all those greats, Billy Holliday is without doubt the greatest. Listen to her give this tune the treatment. If you’re in the mood, you can sing along with the lyrics (found with a simple Google search) below.

Them There Eyes by Maceo Pinkard, Doris Tauber and William Tracey

I fell in love with you the first time I looked into them there eyes
And you have a certain lil cute way of flirtin’ with them there eyes
They make me feel so happy, they make me feel so blue
I’m fallin’, no stallin’ in a great big way for you
My heart is jumpin’ you started somethin’ with them there eyes
You’d better look out little brown eyes if you’re wise
They sparkle, they bubble, they’re gonna get you
In a whole lot of trouble, oh baby, them there eyes
I fell in love with you the first time I looked into
You have a certain lil cute way of flirtin’
They make me feel so happy, they make me feel so blue
Fallin’, no

I was born at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. I find inspiration in the lives of so many people from Joan of Arc to Oscar Wilde. While my primary avocation is photography, I also enjoy philosophy, theology and most of all, history. My beloved wife, Robin Anne Smith, who passed away in 2013 is an inspiration to me. My beloved partner, Dana is also a great support and inspiration to me. I'd be remiss if I did not mention my cats: Maxwell, Nigel, Pirouette and GarGar.
